Success = Opportunity
Another tidbit from Michael Crichton..
I think he said this in response to a question from Charlie Rose but I’m not sure. Given that Crichton made a ton of money and at one point he simultaneously had the top selling book, top grossing movie, and the #1 rated TV show. He was asked what is success, how do you define success or what do you consider to be success - something like that.
He said that he meets people who’ve written a book or maybe a screenplay and they can’t get it published or produced. Success, he said, is opportunity. The opportunity to get your book published, your movie made, your company funded, your grant accepted, whatever…
I do believe that’s the best definition I’ve ever heard…
